Additional Information
Surround effect cannot be obtained.
/ Turn on the sound field function.
/ Make sure that the SPEAKERS selector is set
to ON.
No picture or an unclear picture is seen on the TV screen.
/ Select the appropriate function on the
amplifier.
/ Set your TV to the appropriate input mode.
/ Place your TV away from the audio
components.
You have difficulty operating the unit because the on-
screen display is distorted.
/ Make sure that video components are not
connected to both the S-VIDEO and VIDEO
jacks at the same time. Use only the S-VIDEO
connectors, or the VIDEO connectors (if there
are no S-VIDEO connectors on the TV).
/ When connect two or more VCRs to the unit,
make sure to use a distributor when
connecting the TV aerial to the VCRs to
preserve video signal quality.
/ Clean the head of the VCR.
/ Do not select channels where there is no
broadcast. Set the unit to skip programme
positions where there is no broadcast.
/ Noise may appear in the on-screen display
during fast forward, rewind, pause, or slow
playback of a VCR. This is not a malfunction.
The on-screen display becomes distorted when you select
a programme source from the FUNCTION SELECT menu.
/ There may be distortion in the video signal,
but this is not a malfunction, continue as is.
The remote does not function.
/ Replace both batteries in the remote with new
ones if they are weak.
/ Remove the obstacles in the path of the
remote and the amplifier.
IR codes of non-Sony equipment cannot be recorded.
/ Be sure that the respective remote is pointed
directly at the infrared sensor on the front of
the amplifier from a distance of less than 20
cm (8 inches).
/ There may be interference from a fluorescent
light source. Keep the infrared sensor away
from fluorescent light.
Note
If the unit does not operate properly even after attempting
the prescribed remedies or other problems occur, try the
following:
(1) Turn off the power, turn it on again. If the unit still does
not work, (2) turn off the power with the POWER switch,
then reinsert the plug into the power outlet and turn the
power on again. If the unit still does not work, (3) turn off
the power with the POWER switch, then turn it on while
holding down TAPE MONITOR and VIDEO 2 on the front
panel. Please note, however, that this remedy will erase all
data recorded in the unit.
Note
When the amplifier is placed in an audio rack (etc.) with a
glass front, the pointer may click the on-screen button
repeatedly, instead of holding it down, even though you are
holding down the button on the remote control (e.g., during
forward search while playing a video, etc.). This
phenomenon is a result of interference between the IR
repeater and receptor on the front panel. It is not a
malfunction. If this occurs, try connecting the supplied IR
repeater and placing it in an appropriate position.
